Under 13s match report
The u/13s played their first game of the year against Shepherds Bush on Monday 23/04 – League Div 1 match.
This is high level competition with teams from Ealing (2), Osterley, Bush and others.
The boys enjoyed a narrow four run victory. ACC 1/125 v Shepherds Bush 4/121 with the match having been reduced to 18 overs a team because of light.
The outstanding performances were from Huzaifer (64no) and Dan Freeman (34no) with a well compiled 120 unfinished second wicket stand. Huzaifer batted within himself - early season - and Dan was brilliant in his designated role of batting throughout the innings and feeding the strike to Huzaifer - 30 of his runs came in singles. Bush fielded very well which reduced our run scoring.
Our bowling kept Bush in the match - instead of strangling them we gave them a continuous stream of runs - the boys need to start bowling good lines and better lengths if we are going to challenge but it is early season. Caspar Murphy and Zulf Hoosenally bowled well with a wicket each.
Fielding was a little ragged but there were some exceptional moments – Murray Lyndsay’s catch, Caspar and Murray combined for a run-out, Zulf and our new player Louis Bonnetti with some brave stops and Savo Savick with some great boundary riding - he did not give them a 4 and threw with great accuracy. We really need to think about our field placings - putting people where they are best suited.
Next week will be even more difficult - two games against Ealing, both away on Monday 30/04 (League) and Thurs 03/05 (Cup).
Onwards and upwards!
